About this website.

Aviation History, Aircraft Preservation and Old Aeroplanes are the subjects of this website. Generally it is concerned with aircraft that were designed before 1965, although some may still be in service. The selection of subjects is unashamedly influenced by the author's preferences and favorite aircraft.

Affiliate Disclosure

This website has affiliate links to products, as a reputable business, the following information is provided in the interests of transparency.

Please note that while this website showcases products it is without recommendation unless specifically stated and then only if it has been used by the owner(s), buyers are advised to check the buyers' review section of the merchant's website.

What is Affiliate Marketing?

If you follow a link from this website (or any other involved in an affiliate marketing program) and purchase a product, the vendor will pay a commission to the website owner. In this respect it is no different from traditional “bricks and mortar” businesses e.g. travel agents, financial advisers and insurance brokers, but replaces the shop or office with a website. The main advantages to the website owner are that it harnesses the power of the internet to promote their selected products to a huge potential market whilst being comparatively inexpensive to set up and run. As such internet affiliate marketing has created opportunities for a wider range of people to achieve financial independence than would have otherwise been the case. However, it should not be regarded as a “Get rich quick scheme”, it requires work and application and most affiliate marketeers do not achieve a full time income for at least the first year and sometimes longer.

How does Affiliate Marketing affect the buyers of product?

When a potential buyer clicks a on link from an affiliate's website they will be taken to exactly the same merchant's website as they would have, had they found it independently, it just takes with it a piece of code which will indicate from whom the referral came and should a purchase be made the commission will be credited to the affiliate. The buyer will not be charged any more than they would have had they arrived at the vendors website directly as merchants build the commission into their selling price from the outset, if no affiliate is involved they keep the commission themselves. Commission rates vary and it would be impractical to give individual amounts for each link on this website but typically are between 7.5% and 15%.

Why Disclose that this website uses Affiliate Marketing?

Quite simply it is a legal requirement in most countries where it is viewed. Each jurisdiction has its own regulations and as the owner is based in Great Britain this website is designed to be compliant with British (United Kingdom) legal requirements which are slightly more onerous than most others.

The overall intention of all nation's regulations is “Transparency” i.e. that potential buyers are fully aware that buying via an affiliate link will earn the website owner a commission and that the disclosure is clear e.g. in sight on on all pages without scrolling down, in the same sized font as the the main text and in the principal language used on the website.

There is also the question of “recommendations” when the author has not actually used the product and it should be noted that while this website showcases products it is without recommendation unless specifically stated, buyers are advised to check the merchant's website “buyers' independent reviews” section or page.
